New Delhi, August 26, 2026: The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana 2026 is being formally launched by the Delhi government on Wednesday, August 26, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta scheduled to distribute sanction letters to around 4,000 eligible women at Talkatora Stadium. Monthly financial assistance under the scheme is scheduled to begin from September 1, 2026.
The scheme provides ₹2,500 per month to eligible women in Delhi. The official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal is operated by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of NCT of Delhi, and provides facilities for online application and application-status tracking.
What Is Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?
The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana (DLY) is a financial assistance scheme for eligible women residing in Delhi. The scheme was originally notified as the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana and was subsequently renamed Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.
According to the Delhi Gazette notification, the scheme came into force from August 1, 2026 and is initially intended to operate for three years, unless the government decides otherwise. Its stated objective is to provide a monthly financial benefit of ₹2,500 to eligible low-income women and promote financial autonomy and empowerment.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana 2026: How Much Money Will Women Get?
Eligible beneficiaries are entitled to ₹2,500 per month.
However, the scheme does not provide the entire amount as unrestricted cash. The official guidelines provide two options for receiving the monthly assistance:
Option 1:
- ₹1,500 per month is credited to an RD/FD account.
- ₹1,000 per month is transferred through a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet linked to the beneficiary’s bank account.
Option 2:
- The entire ₹2,500 per month is credited to an RD/FD account.
The official guidelines state that the RD/FD component has a lock-in period until July 31, 2029.
The CBDC wallet has spending restrictions. The scheme’s negative list includes items and services such as alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, lottery tickets, gambling and betting services.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Eligibility Criteria
According to the official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal, an applicant must satisfy the prescribed eligibility conditions.
The applicant must:
- Be a woman.
- Be the eldest eligible female member of the family.
- Be between 21 and 60 years of age on the date of application.
- Belong to a family with annual income of not more than ₹2.50 lakh.
- Have herself, her husband or either of her parents as a Delhi resident for at least 10 years on the date of application.
- Be a registered voter of Delhi.
- Belong to a family whose annual electricity consumption during the previous 12 months does not exceed 2,400 units.
Who Is Not Eligible for Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?
The official guidelines specify several exclusion conditions.
A woman is not eligible if she:
- Receives a pension or other financial assistance from the Central or State Government.
- Is an income-tax payee.
- Is a GST filer.
- Is a government servant or holds public office.
- Has more than three living children.
- Belongs to a family whose annual electricity consumption exceeds 2,400 units.
- Herself or a family member is employed as a regular or contractual employee of the Central or State Government, PSU, board, local body or government organisation, subject to the scheme’s prescribed conditions.
- Herself or a family member owns a four-wheeler motor vehicle.
- Has a criminal antecedent or record.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Registration: How to Apply Online
The official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal provides an online application facility.
Applicants are required to:
- Complete the eligibility questions on the portal.
- Enter personal details, including Aadhaar and other basic information.
- Provide the required details of family members.
- Enter bank-account information for benefit transfer.
- Upload the required documents.
- Preview the application and submit it.
- Upload the signed copy of the required MP/MLA endorsement.
- Download and retain the acknowledgement receipt.
The official scheme guidelines state that the applicant must download the QR-coded form generated with the application details, get it recommended, signed and stamped by the area MP/MLA, upload the signed and stamped form on the portal and submit the application.

- Applicant’s photograph and signature

For age verification, the portal accepts documents including a birth certificate, school-leaving certificate, Class 10 certificate, driving licence, PAN card, Aadhaar or Voter ID.
Bank Account Requirement
The official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal states that beneficiaries must have an active bank account with a participating bank compatible with the CBDC ecosystem.
The portal currently lists participating banks including SBI, ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank, IDFC FIRST Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, YES BANK, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Federal Bank, Bank of India, IDBI Bank, Indian Bank, Karnataka Bank, IndusInd Bank, UCO Bank and Bank of Maharashtra.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Payment Date 2026
The Delhi government has scheduled the monthly financial assistance under the scheme to begin from September 1, 2026.
The government is distributing sanction/benefit letters to selected eligible women as part of the formal rollout. On August 26, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is scheduled to distribute letters to around 4,000 women at Talkatora Stadium.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: Registration and Application Status
The official portal provides a “Track Application” facility through which applicants can check the status of their application using their mobile number.
The application process involves scrutiny by the District Women and Child Development authorities. Under the notified guidelines, verified eligible applications are forwarded to the District Level Approval, Monitoring and Grievance Redressal Committee (DLAMGRC) for approval before the payment process.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Budget and Beneficiaries
The Delhi government has earmarked ₹5,110 crore in the 2026–27 Budget for the scheme. The government has estimated that the scheme could benefit around 17 lakh women.
Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: Important Conditions
The scheme contains additional responsibilities and conditions for beneficiaries. Applicants are required to provide accurate information and prescribed identification details for eligible family members.
The guidelines also require information relating to school-going children, including APAAR IDs, and health-related information such as ABHA IDs. The guidelines state that children should be vaccinated according to the prescribed government schedule and that pregnant or lactating mothers in the family should be registered on the POSHAN Tracker.
The guidelines further state that beneficiaries who permanently move outside Delhi will no longer be eligible for the assistance. If a beneficiary is subsequently found to have been ineligible, the scheme provides for termination of benefits and recovery of amounts disbursed under the prescribed rules.
