Ranchi, August 19, 2026: The Jharkhand government has cancelled 44 recruitment examinations following concerns over irregularities in the recruitment process. The government released the list of cancelled examinations through eight notifications issued late Tuesday night, according to the latest government-reported information.
The examinations covered recruitment conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) and outsourced agencies. The notifications also cover examinations conducted by TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL) since 2014.
Among the examinations included in the cancellation are recruitment tests for drug inspectors, assistant professors, deputy collectors, dental doctors, assistant engineers, civil judges, additional public prosecutors and forest range officers. Examinations for lecturers in government polytechnics, senior scientific officers, assistant conservators of forests and other administrative and technical posts have also been included.
JSSC-CGL Examination Cancelled
The government has also cancelled the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination. The decision was announced after a Cabinet meeting on Monday and followed demands raised during student protests over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.
According to Akashvani News, the JSSC-CGL cancellation was based on findings emerging from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry and an ongoing CID investigation into alleged irregularities.
The government has also decided to cancel examinations conducted by TDPL and the results published by the agency. The cancellation extends to examination processes where preliminary work was conducted by TDPL even if another agency subsequently handled the examination process.
Six Examinations Postponed, 17 Under CID Investigation
Apart from the cancelled examinations, the Jharkhand government has decided to postpone six examinations and order CID investigations into 17 examinations. These decisions are part of the measures announced following concerns regarding the recruitment examination process.
Fast-Track Court Proposed for Examination Cases
The state government has said it will request the Jharkhand High Court to constitute a fast-track court for cases related to alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC.
The government has also decided to establish internal vigilance cells in both JPSC and JSSC.
Committee to Recommend JPSC and JSSC Reforms
A committee headed by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal has been constituted to recommend reforms in the examination systems of JPSC and JSSC.
The committee is expected to submit its report to the state government within two months.
The government’s decisions come amid student protests concerning alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand. The cancelled examinations and further investigations will now be subject to the decisions and notifications issued by the concerned authorities.
