Revised Rates Apply to Fresh Deposits and Renewals

SBI has stated that the revised interest rates will apply to fresh deposits and renewals of maturing deposits.

The bank has also stated that other terms and conditions applicable to retail and bulk term deposits remain unchanged under this revision.

SBI Bulk FD Premature Withdrawal Penalty

According to SBI’s official notification, the premature withdrawal penalty for bulk term deposits is 1% for all tenures. The penalty applies to new deposits, including renewals.

What Does the SBI FD Rate Revision Mean for Depositors?

The August 15 revision specifically concerns domestic bulk term deposits of ₹3 crore and above. The revised rates should therefore be considered by customers placing funds in this bulk-deposit category.

SBI separately publishes interest rates for domestic term deposits below ₹3 crore. The bank’s deposit-rate page distinguishes between retail domestic term deposits and domestic bulk term deposits.

Customers planning a fresh deposit or renewal should check the applicable SBI rate for the deposit amount, tenure and customer category before proceeding.
